Creative Work with Roots
I’m Darrel Smith Jr — an artist, musician, writer, and systems tinkerer based in Arlington, Texas.
I build with what I’ve got: guitars, public domain footage, garden soil, sticker paper, Raspberry Pis, and a deep DIY ethic. I’ve released EPs, reprogrammed old media, run for Congress, and turned my house into a sustainability lab.
Whether I’m making music, designing zines, remixing comics, or building bots, my work is about imagination, autonomy, and the future we might still grow.
I make music rooted in lo-fi punk, folk, and sound collage. You can find most of it on Bandcamp or being licensed for video through Pond5.
